A lot of people are reluctant to be visible on social media because they think it is too difficult.
They get stuck on what to post about. They worry about what others will think of them. They don’t have time.
I’m here today to tell you that it’s really not as difficult as you think. As long as you have a plan.
Let’s look at the issues a bit more closely.
Not sure what to post.
Does your mind go blank when you try to think about what to post each day? Then try this using my S.O.C.I.A.L. method…
- Write down 4 things about you and your business
- Create a table in Google Sheets or Excel
- Add each of the things you identified in the left hand column
- Title the next 6 columns S.O.C.I.A.L.
- Add one focus area into each cell
It should look something a bit like this:
You can then plan your month by selecting a different focus area and create your posts using them.
First ask yourself whose opinions you are concerned about and why? Are they your target audience? Does their opinion even matter?
My 10 year old told me that my TikTok videos were rubbish. I told him that he’s not my target audience so his opinion really doesn’t matter in this instance.
You have to talk about your business to have a business. So unless those people are going to pay your bills, just keep posting.
And don’t worry about trolls. Think of it this way, if you get a troll commenting on your post, you’ve chuffing well made it 😉
You HAVE to make time to work ON your business as well as IN your business.
And once you have a plan this will be so much easier, I promise.
Here’s what I do: I schedule in time in my working week to focus on my own social media. I do different tasks on different days so I can keep on top of it. And I have a plan.
*REMEMBER* be consistent but sustainable. You don’t have to post every day but you do need to maintain a social media presence.
Alternatively, outsource your social media to a Social Media Manager like me 😉
